Chacin impressive in Angels debut

SEATTLE — The Angels have had three starting pitchers complete seven innings this season. One is Hector Santiago, who has spent his entire career searching for pitch-efficiency. Another is Jered Weaver, who throws the slowest fastball in the game. And the other is Jhoulys Chacin, a desperation acquisition for a low-level Minor League reliever.
Making his Angels debut at Safeco Field on Saturday night, Chacin limited the Mariners to two runs on five hits and no walks through the first seven innings, striking out four and requiring only 90 pitches to record 21 outs in the Angels’ eventual 9-7, come-from-behind win.
It marked only the second time since April 26 that the Angels had received at least six innings from a starting pitcher.
