There are basically five things you need to know about the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU). First of all what is it? It was started in September of 2008, by two former London policemen, Jeff Rees and Ben Gunn who were hired by a senior detective with the Metropolitan Police in London, Nigel Willerton. It is a joint project to work with and for the advantage of all bodies of tennis as the International Tennis Federation (ITF), which governs Challenger circuits and officials of the game, the American Tennis Professionals (ATP), involving the men tennis players, the Women”s Tennis Association (WTA), and grand slam events — Australian Open, The French Open (Roland Garros), Wimbledon and the US Open. The unit is London-based and works as a combined support of other special investigators.
