Cardinals have been dominated by good (and pretty good) teams

LOS ANGELES — This series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers was about which once-mighty team had fallen the furthest this season.
Neither team has been bad, exactly, but both outfits, which frequently have clashed in the playoffs, have been uninspiring. The Dodgers have ridden a little uptick here while the dull drumbeat of mediocrity continued for the Cardinals.
