UFC 198 results: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira knocks out Patrick Cummins

The fans were in full voice for the opening fights on the UFC 198: Werdum vs. Miocic preliminary card. We were even treated to a rare split draw on the 2nd fight on the card. Here are the results of the opening trio of preliminary card fights in Curitiba, Brazil, including the feature bout between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Patrick Cummins.

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira def. Patrick Cummins via TKO (punches) at 4:52 of round 1 – Light Heavyweights

It was a patient first half of the 1st round, with Cummins throwing plenty of low kicks and peppering Lil’ Nog’s lead leg, but otherwise not committing to takedowns. Nogueira hurt Cummins with a combination, but Cummins recovered well enough. As the round wore on, Nogueira rocked Cummins with a hard right hook, and he went for the kill. Cummins was out on his feet after he was tagged with a straight left. Nogueira threw some ground strikes and then let a hurt Cummins back up. More punches by Lil’ Nog had Cummins totally out of it, and referee Leon Roberts stopped the fight standing. It’s Lil’ Nog’s first win since beating Rashad Evans in 2013.
