Ryu ready to pitch in Minors; McCarthy close

LOS ANGELES — A pair of injured Dodgers pitchers are nearing returns to the rotation, with Hyun-Jin Ryu (left shoulder) starting a rehab assignment on Sunday and Brandon McCarthy (right elbow) just a simulated game away from joining him.
Ryu will pitch two innings on Sunday at Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga, where he is expected to make about five appearances as he builds up to a 100-pitch outing.
It will be the first game action Ryu has seen since March 17, 2015, in the Cactus League, when the left-hander underwent surgery on the labrum in his left shoulder. He was also delayed for several days by a groin strain in April.
