Barcelona claimed their 24th La Liga title on Week 38 of the season, narrowly beating fierce rivals Real Madrid to the top spot by one point.

Luis Enrique’s men secured successive domestic trophies following a 3-0 victory over Granada on Saturday, while Real beat Deportivo La Coruna by two goals to nil at Estadio Riazor.

Cristiano Ronaldo netted twice for Los Blancos before being replaced at half-time as he notched 50 goals in a season for the sixth consecutive year.

However, it proved not to be enough, as Barca clinched a vital three points after Luis Suarez netted a trio of strikes to take his La Liga goal tally to 40 for the campaign.

Take a look at the scores from the final weekend of football action in Spain and the end-of-season table.

Recap

Real’s late-season assault on the La Liga title proved insufficient following the final-day exploits in Spain, as Barcelona sealed their sixth domestic title in eight years with a convincing win over Granada.

Los Blancos knew they must beat Depor away from home to stand any chance of lifting a first league trophy since 2011-12, with the two matches running simultaneously to avoid any possible bias or partisanship from their opponents.

Star striker Ronaldo aided Real’s title tilt inside the opening stages of the contest, as he netted from close range after just seven minutes.

Madrid’s superiority was evident from the first whistle, with manager Zinedine Zidane clearly detailing the magnitude of the contest to his troops. There was a sense of inevitability in the buildup to Ronaldo’s opener, as Gareth Bale left Manuel Pablo for dead on the right of the box before cutting his cross back to Karim Benzema on the penalty spot.

The Frenchman instinctively played the ball further on to the unmarked Ronaldo at the far post, and Real had their much-needed lead.

AS unfairly judged Benzema to have miscued his effort on goal before finding his team-mate with a smart pass across goal:
