Bundesliga: Stuttgart relegated

Stuttgart were relegated to the German second division for the first time in 41 years and only the second time in their history after being beaten 3-1 by Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Maximilian Arnold and Andre Schurrle, with a brace, were on target against a Stuttgart side who needed a win to stand any chance of avoiding the drop after picking up just two points from their previous eight games.
Daniel Didavi’s late goal was too little for the Swabians, who joined rock-bottom Hannover in going down.
A final-day win would not have been enough for Stuttgart anyway as Werder Bremen beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 to ensure they moved above their visitors and out of the relegation play-off berth.
