Jordan Spieth Misses Cut at 2016 Players Championship: Latest Comments, Reaction

Jordan Spieth hasn’t performed to his gaudy standards of late, and his struggles continued at the 2016 Players Championship with a missed cut at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
After blowing a final-round lead at the Masters in his last start, Spieth won’t even be around for the weekend of the “fifth major.” The 22-year-old followed an opening-round 72 with a one-under 71 during a second round that spanned Friday and Saturday to miss the cut by one stroke.
It appears as though Spieth has yet to fully recover from his collapse at Augusta National. He was tantalizingly close to a second straight green jacket last month until a quadruple bogey at the par-three 12th sunk his chances.
Now he’s suffered another unfortunate setback, which could have been a result of rust after a competitive hiatus of approximately one month.
It’s difficult to draw any definitive conclusions after one bad event, though. Jeremy Schilling of PGA Magazine noted he also missed the Players cut last …
