Islam Slimani scored 26 goals in 32 league games this season with Sporting Lisbon
Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani is the shock omission from Algeria’s 23-man squad for their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Seychelles on 2 June.
Leicester City’s PFA player of year Riyad Mahrez, captain Carl Medjani and former BBC African Footballer of the year Yacine Brahimi are all included.
But Slimani, Watford’s Adlene Guedioura, Nabil Bentaleb of Tottenham and Mehdi Abeid are all notable absentees in the squad announced by Algeria’s Football Federation.
