Anderson, Davidson among top prospect performers Friday

After a second Spring Training in Major League camp, it was up to Tim Anderson to show that he can take it to the next level, and so far the shortstop — the No. 2 prospect in the White Sox organization — is not disappointing by any stretch of the imagination.

In his first season at Triple-A, Anderson has shown he can handle the uptick in pitching, and he’s on a tear as May rolls on. Anderson hit his second homer in as many nights and extended his hitting streak to six games in Triple-A Charlotte’s 8-3 victory over Durham in International League action Friday night, another do-it-all game for the 22-year-old.

During his recent hot streak, the No. 17 overall pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft has gone 15-for-31 with 11 runs scored and four steals.

The rest of the best performances from top prospects Friday:

• Matt Davidson, the No. 28 prospect for the White Sox, actually outdid Anderson in the Knights’ win Friday night. The third baseman bopped two home runs with a two-run shot and a solo job to go along with a run-scoring single on a four-RBI night. In his third season at Triple-A, Davidson is seeking a third 20-homer season — he’s at six after Friday’s two-fer.
