Canha diagnosed with left hip impingement

ST. PETERSBURG — Mark Canha has been diagnosed with a left hip impingement that could result in season-ending surgery for the A’s infielder/outfielder.
Canha will seek a second opinion from Dr. Marc Philippon in Colorado, after the A’s recommended he get a cortisone shot before determining if surgery is necessary.
Canha was placed on the disabled list Tuesday and sent home from Boston for MRIs on both his hip and back; A’s head trainer Nick Paparesta said there is no labral damage to Canha’s hip, and that he has a …
