Notes: Alvarez-Khan generates $7.4 million gate

A few notes from around the boxing world:
• Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez’s sixth-round knockout of the year contender against Amir Khan last Saturday night in the main event of the first boxing card at the new $375 million T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, generated a live gate of $7,417,350, according to figures released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. That total came from 13,072 tickets sold, far short of a sellout. The Alvarez-Khan gross places it 34th-best in Nevada history. It is sandwiched between the $7,486,400 live gate of the Felix Trinidad-Fernando Vargas junior middleweight championship fight in 2000 and Trinidad’s junior middleweight title victory against David Reid earlier in 2000, which grossed $7,329,500.
