Miami adds lefty reliever Beimel on Minors deal

MIAMI — The Marlins have added experienced left-handed relief depth. But they will have to wait a little bit before he’s ready to join the big league club.
Joe Beimel has signed a Minor League deal with the Marlins, and the 39-year-old is in the process of reporting to extended spring camp at the organization’s Roger Dean Stadium complex in Jupiter, Fla.
A 13-year veteran, Beimel recently worked out for club after he spent the past two years with the Mariners. In 2015, the southpaw threw 47 1/3 innings in 53 games. His ERA was 3.99, and left-handed hitters had a .280 batting average against him.
