FIVB and other international federations set to show their ‘social’ side at Rio 2016

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 12, 2016 – Social media will play an integral role in the communications strategies of the FIVB and other summer international federations in Rio 2016 this August, with all participating sporting federations having a ‘social presence’ at the Games for the first time ever.
With #OlympicFlame, #YOGtoRio and #Rio2016 gaining traction in social media circles, the Rio Games are already being dubbed the ‘Games of the hashtag’ and international federations were shown their potential for fan engagement at a workshop organised by the IOC Department of Strategic Communications in Lausanne on May 10 and 11.
The ever changing social media landscape was just one of many topics covered during the workshop, which brought together communications representatives from 24 international federations including the FIVB over the two days.
