As the axe falls on Everton’s Roberto Martinez, here are the stats which illustrate just how bad it got for his side this season.
The Spaniard saw his team crumble to a 3-0 defeat at previously relegation-threatened Sunderland on Wednesday night and that result – according to Sky sources – has prompted Everton’s board to act ahead of Sunday’s finale with Norwich.
“It’s been a poor season for Everton, you can’t dress it up,” said Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher after their loss at the Stadium of Light.
