Noah Syndergaard quietly had elbow checked after May 1 start

LOS ANGELES — New York Mets manager Terry Collins acknowledged late Wednesday that Noah Syndergaard quietly had his elbow examined early this month.
Syndergaard would only describe the visit to the Hospital for Special Surgery as “just all precautionary.” It came on May 2, a day after he allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants.
Syndergaard uneventfully proceeded with his next start in San Diego. He showed no ill effects while logging eight innings (and homering twice) in a 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, again on standard …
