Newcastle fate in Sunderland hands

Sunderland took a big step towards Premier League survival with a crucial 3-2 victory over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The win lifted Sam Allardyce’s men above Newcastle, who dropped back into the bottom three as they were held to a goalless draw by relegated Aston Villa. In the early kick-off, 19th-placed Norwich were unable to close the gap on their relegation rivals as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Manchester United.
