Gold Rush get a bye, Nuggets get rematch with UNOH

NEW ORLEANS — A first-round rematch with Northwestern Ohio awaits the Xavier University of Louisiana women in the opening round of next week’s NAIA Tennis National Championships at Mobile, Ala. The Gold Nuggets (8-13), seeded 18th, will play the 15th-seeded Racers (13-9) at 8:30 May 17 at Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center in one of eight first-round women’s dual matches that morning. Xavier is seeded 18th, and UNOH is 15th. Xavier’s men (14-7) are seeded third and received one of eight first-round byes in that bracket. The Gold Rush will play 14th-seeded Westmont (9-8) or 19th-seeded Bethany (Kan.) (13-3) in the round of 16 at 1 p.m. May 18. Bethany and Westmont will meet May 17. The NAIA announced Tuesday the seedings and brackets. Northwestern Ohio defeated the Gold Nuggets 5-4 March 29 at Xavier. The Racers …
