Freeman accepts Triple-A assignment

MIAMI — Brewers left-hander Sam Freeman cleared waivers and has accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
“We’re happy to keep him,” manager Craig Counsell said. “We were hoping to be able to keep him. He’s got a good arm. We really want to work with him and get his confidence back and get him throwing strikes. I think if we can get him to that point, he can help us.”
Freeman, who was acquired for cash considerations from the Rangers on April 5, appeared in seven games for the Crew this season, all in relief. …
