Clemson reinstates WR Cain from suspension

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — Clemson’s wealth of offensive weapons will be a bit deeper when fall camp opens, as coach Dabo Swinney confirmed Tuesday that sophomore wide receiver Deon Cain has been reinstated to the team.

Cain was Clemson’s second-leading receiver when he was abruptly sent him for a violation of team rules just a day before the Tigers’ College Football Playoff game in the Orange Bowl in December.

“[Cain] is a great kid — not a bad kid at all,” Swinney said. “He just made some bad decisions. Just being held accountable for those things. He’s come back and done everything we asked him to do. I’m really proud of what he’s done.”

Cain missed both the Orange Bowl and the national championship game and was held out of spring practice, but he continued to attend meetings and study film and worked during his down time to keep …
