Volleyball Your Way programme takes on African flavour in April

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 10, 2016 – The FIVB’s development programme featured seven Volleyball Your Way (VBYW) courses and 10 coaches courses and technical seminars in April.The month began with a Level II Coaches Course in Senegal from May 2 to 14. It included six VBYW courses in African countries and one in Armenia. FIVB instructors also travelled to 10 different countries to lead coaches courses and technical seminars, including Senegal in Africa, Bahrain, India, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates in Asia, Barbados and St. Lucia in the Caribbean, Mexico in North America and Argentina in South America.The Volleyball Your Way course programme emphasises teaching the basics of volleyball to children and youth. The key target groups are teachers and grassroots coaches. The objectives of the coaches courses on the other hand are: to improve the knowledge and competence of coaches and teachers so that they may gain recognition as FIVB coaches, to present the most recent trends in volleyball, to establish a unified system for training coaches, to enable each national federation to develop national courses and an internal method of training and qualifying coaches and teachers, and to exchange ideas and experiences.
