Ion Tiriac: ‘I cannot understand how during some days we have only 3.000 people on the grounds’

It’s time to take stock of the Mutua Madrid Open. And the situation in general, according to Ion Tiriac, is very positive though it could do better. Interviewed by Marca, the tournament director and former player analyzed how things went and the next goals for the event. He said, ‘It went a little bit better than last year, while it will be a little bit worse the next one.’
He also has some projects in mind to try and improve the tournament. Speaking about his plans, he said, ‘I would like to build up an outdoor court with a capacity of 10,000 seats. The municipality is the owner of the Caja Magica and both the previous mayor and the current one say there is not any money to remove the shades (caused by how the courts were built).
