Nats make Stephen king, earn shining W

WASHINGTON — Clint Robinson ended a wild night at Nationals Park with a walk-off home run in the ninth inning to lead the Nationals a 5-4 victory over the Tigers on Monday night. The homer came one batter after Bryce Harper was ejected from the game for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout when Danny Espinosa was called out on strikes.
Earlier, the surprising news of Stephen Strasburg’s seven-year, $175 million contract extension broke while he was on the mound. Nick Castellanos and J.D. Martinez had each tagged Strasburg for a two-run homer. Even though Strasburg had thrown 103 pitches, he was allowed to start the eighth inning against the middle of the Tigers’ order, only to be lifted after a four-pitch walk to Miguel Cabrera.
Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy continued his torrid stretch at the plate with his 16th multihit game of the year, one of which was a two-run home run off Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez, who was charged for four runs in six-plus innings.
