Going solo: Yanks slug 5 in HR-filled win

NEW YORK — Carlos Beltran homered twice, and Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks and Brian McCann all homered as well as the Yankees rolled past the slumping Royals, 6-3, on Monday night at Yankee Stadium.
All five were solo homers.
Right-hander Ivan Nova started for the Yankees, replacing the injured CC Sabathia. Nova lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up one run and six hits. Kirby Yates got the win in relief.
The Royals have lost 10 of 13, and dropped below .500 for the first time since July 22, 2014.
