Source: Strasburg gets 7-year, $175M extension

WASHINGTON — Right-hander Stephen Strasburg will be with the Nationals long term, a baseball source told MLB.com’s Jon Morosi, agreeing to a seven-year deal worth $175 million. The Nats have not confirmed the extension.
The source said a news conference will be held Tuesday to announce the deal. MLB Network’s Jon Heyman said that will be at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The Washington Post was the first to report that that Strasburg and the Nationals had agreed to terms. A source told Morosi that Strasburg can opt out of the deal after the third or fourth year, which was first reported by MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal. So Strasburg can become a free agent at age 31 or 32.
