SEATTLE — A red-hot Robinson Cano was named American League Player of the Week on Monday, the seventh time he’s earned that honor in his 12-year Major League career and the first time with the Mariners.
Cano hit .516 (16-for-31) with three doubles, four home runs, eight runs and nine RBIs in seven games against the A’s and Astros. He had at least one hit in each of the games and five multihit outings en route to a 1.516 OPS.
