Lille’s Sofiane Boufal was injured playing on a synthetic surface at Lorient
Morocco and Lille midfielder Sofiane Boufal has been named best African player in France’s Ligue 1.
The 22-year-old beat Algeria and Lyon’s Rachid Ghezzal and Cheikh N’Doye of Senegal and Angers to win the Marc-Vivien Foe Trophy.
The annual award is named after the Cameroon international who died aged 28 of a heart attack in 2003.
