Peter Taylor’s England squad

We asked Peter Taylor to pick his 23-man squad for Euro 2016 ahead of Roy Hodgson’s England squad announcement on Thursday.
The former England carteaker boss has gambled on the fitness of both Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck but has a contingency plan that involves a change of role for Wayne Rooney and the introduction of midfielders Jack Wilshere and Danny Drinkwater.
In defence, there’s no place for Leighton Baines as Taylor picks Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand, while Ben Foster gets the nod as the third goalkeeper.

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Ben Foster (West Brom)
Taylor says: “It may be harsh on Tom Heaton I just think Ben Foster’s got more experience. I know he’s had a few injuries this season but he’s fit now, and I think he’s a slightly better goalkeeper so that’s the route I would go down. As much as Joe Hart is our number one I think you need to push him as much as you can.”
