Headley feels like he’s turning the corner

NEW YORK — Chase Headley enjoyed his first multi-hit game since April 19 in the Yankees’ 8-2 victory on Saturday, and though the switch-hitting third baseman is still looking for his first extra-base hit of the season, he hopes that there is some daylight around the corner.
“I think I’ve done a good job of coming in positive every day and feeling like today is going to be the day that I come out of it,” Headley said. “You certainly feel better after a 2-for-4 day or a 3-for-4 than a 0-for-4.”
Headley was benched on Thursday at Baltimore and on Friday against the Red Sox before re-joining the lineup, as manager Joe Girardi suggested that a pair of days off might help him clear his head. Headley accepted the opportunity to work in the cage, but said that he would have preferred to have been in the lineup.
