Simmons exits Angels’ loss with sprained thumb

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Shortstop Andrelton Simmons left the Los Angeles Angels’ game against Tampa Bay in the third inning Sunday because of a sprained left thumb.
Simmons was hurt when he came down awkwardly on his glove hand while diving to stop a grounder hit by Evan Longoria. He immediately left the game.
