Padres place Weeks on DL, recall Pirela

SAN DIEGO — The Padres’ rash of injuries to their infielders required another roster move Sunday.
Jose Pirela was recalled from Triple-A El Paso, expected to see occasional starts at second base.
Jemile Weeks heads to the disabled list after straining his right hamstring in Saturday’s 6-3 loss to the Mets. Weeks, injured while trying to beat out a bunt, joins infielders Yangervis Solarte (hamstring), Cory Spangenberg (quad) and Alexi Amarista (hamstring) on the DL.
Amarista and Solarte could be returning soon. They traveled to the team’s Arizona facility on Sunday and manager Andy Green anticipates them playing in games late next …
