CC Sabathia optimistic he’ll be back soon

NEW YORK — According to New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi, the last time CC Sabathia had a groin strain, it cost him three weeks of playing time. This time, however, Sabathia says he doesn’t think it will be nearly that long.
“It’s getting better every day,” said Sabathia, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday. “When I did it last time, I was still feeling it about a week later. This time, I’m progressing pretty good. I’ll play catch again today and do whatever I can to be back out there in 15 days.”
Sabathia suffered the injury in the fourth inning of a game in Baltimore on Wednesday but he said he did not alert Girardi or the training staff …
