Griffin exits early with right shoulder stiffness

DETROIT — Right-hander A.J. Griffin exited Saturday’s game vs. the Tigers in the third inning after experiencing stiffness in his right shoulder. Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo replaced him on the mound.
Griffin had fallen behind several batters in the third and walked two to load the bases. Eight of his last 11 pitches were outside the strike zone, and the command he had exhibited earlier in the game had eroded.
