The Premier League title may be wrapped up and in Leicester City’s possession, but on Saturday, several crucial matches still promised to have a major impact on the battle for European qualification and the relegation battle.

Sunderland, without question, were the biggest winners on the day. Trailing 2-1 at the half against Chelsea, the Black Cats fought back with second-half tallies from Fabio Borini and Jermain Defoe, clawing their way out of the relegation zone (at least for the moment) in the process and earning a 3-2 win.
That put the club in the driver’s seat to stave off relegation, as a win against Everton in their next contest will guarantee a return to the Premier League for the 2016-17 campaign.
“It’s a wonderful result for us,” Sam Allardyce said after the match, per Lawrence Ostlere of the Guardian. “One thing we do know is that it’s in our hands. Hopefully we can achieve our goal on Wednesday night [against Everton]. Since the turn of the year we’ve been so near yet so far from so many victories, yet today we’ve come back to a winning position twice.”
Newcastle and Norwich City weren’t so fortunate.
