Bloody Elbow WMMA recap – April 2016

April was a fun month of MMA, after a certain period of inactivity by the major promotions for some time. On the women’s front, we saw some fairly consequential bouts that moved things around in various divisions.
For starters, we had the treat that was Tecia Torres taking on Rose Namajunas at UFC on Fox 19: Teixeira vs Evans in a close fight with a lot of back and forth action. Namajunas won that bout by unanimous decision and inched her way closer to a title shot in a division that’s currently waiting for the title picture to clear up, as champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to take on fellow TUF 23 coach Claudia Gadelha later this year.
That same event saw Raquel Pennington defeat Bethe Correia by a very close split decision …
