DALLAS — The St. Louis Blues are now knocking on the door of the Western Conference finals. They withstood a flurry of scoring chances from the Dallas Stars to hold on and beat Dallas 4-1 and head home to St. Louis with a 3-2 series lead.
How it happened: For a good portion of the game, the Stars arguably played the better game. Large stretches of this game were up and down the ice, which favors their style of play. But it was the Blues cashing in opportunities while the Stars missed.
A big reason for that was the strong play of Blues goalie Brian Elliott, who finished with 27 saves. He was as sharp as he’s been all series, including a great point-blank save on Cody Eakin early in the third period that preserved a two-goal …
