Report: Blatt thinks he’s in running with Knicks

The New York Knicks interviewed former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt in late April, but there were doubts about how seriously they were taking him as a head-coaching option. Knicks president Phil Jackson has repeatedly and publicly said he wants the team to run the triangle offense and he wants to hire someone he knows. After the interview, the New York Daily News’ Frank Isola reported that Blatt could end up as an assistant coach in New York under Kurt Rambis.
Blatt, though, came away from his meeting with Jackson thinking he was a “legitimate candidate,” according to the New York Times’ Harvey Araton:
