Red Sox outraged after ninth-inning ejections of John Farrell, David Ortiz

NEW YORK — John Farrell was so upset that plate umpire Ron Kulpa had called Andrew Miller’s 3-and-1 pitch to David Ortiz a strike that after he got tossed for arguing about it, he made a gesture like he was throwing Kulpa out of the game. Ortiz was so upset that Kulpa called the next pitch for strike three that after he was ejected for arguing it as he walked away, he came charging out of the dugout like a lunatic.

The crescendo of a dramatic ninth inning in the Yankees’ 3-2 win Friday night at Yankee Stadium was Miller’s strikeout of Ortiz with the bases loaded and one out. Add it to the many memorable events in baseball’s best rivalry. And don’t be surprised if there is more to come before the end of this three-game series. The Sox are ticked after feeling like their chance to take the game was taken from them.
