The best baseball is in Chicago

The Chicago White Sox became the second team in baseball to reach the 20-win plateau on Friday, behind only their crosstown counterparts, the Chicago Cubs, who secured their 22nd win earlier in the day.
According to Elias Sports Bureau data, this is the third time that each Chicago team was the first in their respective leagues to reach 20 wins. The only other times that happened were in 1915 and 1917. The White Sox went on to win the World Series in 1917.
We take a dive into the numbers that are making each team so successful.
The North Side: Cubs on historic pace
The Cubs are succeeding in all phases of the game, culminating in the best run differential (+98) through 28 games of any team in the World Series era; it’s something we haven’t seen from a team since the late 1930s. The next teams near the top of this list all went on to win the World Series.
The Cubs are getting the job done with excellent starting pitching. Their 2.13 ERA is tops in the league and well better than the next closest team (Nationals, at 2.49).
