Feliz recalled as Sipp takes paternity leave

HOUSTON — The Astros placed left-handed reliever Tony Sipp on the paternity list Friday, clearing a temporary roster spot to recall hard-throwing right-hander Michael Feliz.
Sipp, 32, left the team early Friday for the birth of his second child. The southpaw, in his third year with the team, will miss no more than three games.
Sipp is expected back by Monday’s series opener against Cleveland at Minute Maid Park, but Houston is still minus its only left-handed option in the bullpen this weekend. Seattle had six left-handed hitters in the starting lineup for Friday’s game.
“It’s not perfect timing to not have a lefty, specifically with this lineup, but we don’t really control baby arrivals,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. “But when this team across the way is hitting well, handedness is not as [important] as …
