Back in lineup, Kang rejoins Bucs in St. Louis
- Updated: May 6, 2016
PITTSBURGH — Jung Ho Kang is back with the Pirates, and he’ll bat sixth and play third for the Pirates in the opener tonight against the Cardinals.
After spending the last 7 1/2 months recovering from traumatic left knee injuries, Kang rejoined the team in St. Louis on Thursday before its three-game weekend series against the Cardinals, which begins Friday night at Busch Stadium.
To make room for Kang, the second-year South Korean third baseman who burst onto the scene as a rookie last season, the Pirates optioned corner infielder Jason Rogers to Triple-A Indianapolis
Catcher Francisco Cervelli posted a picture on his Instagram account of himself and Kang with a caption that begins, “My brother is back.” Kang was with the club when its bus arrived at the team hotel, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported from St. Louis.
My brother is back the big Kanacho @sdew0405 better hair now….. #pittsburghpirates
