Roberto Cid and Saana Saarteinen are the American Athletic Conference players of the year

9 head coaches in men’s division and the additional 11 from women’s side of the American Athletic Conference have chosen the players of the year, as well as the best freshman and head coach. USF senior Roberto Cid is the men’s player of the year for the 3rd year running, after another great performance this season. The Dominican Republican native was the true leader of the Bulls, with a 22-2 record which helped him to rise to number 2 in the nation’s ranking. USF won its 3rd straight conference title in April, and Cid was the most prominent figure, notching 3 singles wins and 2 in the doubles, earning the title of the Most Outstanding Tournament Performer. Tulsa’s Majed Kilani is the Freshman of the year after his good matches in both singles and doubles, helping the Golden Hurricane to reach the NCAA tournament for the 11th year in a row. As was expected, USF’s head coach Matt Hill was also named the American Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season. The chemistry between Hill and the Bulls was instant and in just 4 seasons he led his team to 3 conference titles.
