Pellegrini responds to critics

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says it is vital that the club secures Champions League football for next season and has responded to claims he incorrectly prioritised City’s European campaign.
City are currently fourth in the Premier League, four points ahead of Manchester United in fifth, having played a game more.
And after losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday, City are now in real danger of failing to qualify for the competition next season but Pellegrini has hit back at those questioning his side’s domestic form.
“I think it is very, very important to arrive to the Champions League next year,” said Pellegrini, whose side host third place Arsenal on Sunday, live on Sky Sports. “I finish my contract here but that is not a thing I am worried about.
