Tigers again are no match for Indians

CLEVELAND — There was no sugarcoating this sweep. Not the one that came before it, either.
Already, just 27 games into the season, the Detroit Tigers have lost six straight games against the Cleveland Indians, and it stings.
“Quite frankly, they kind of kicked our asses all six games,” manager Brad Ausmus said following the Tigers’ 9-4 defeat on Thursday night.
On both sides of the ball, the Tigers were trounced, both at home and on the road against their American League Central foes. The Indians have outscored the Tigers 38-12 during that span, with 20 extra-base hits to Detroit’s nine. Tribe starters posted a combined ERA of 1.66, as they looked downright unhittable for significant stretches. The same could not be said of the Tigers rotation, which got rocked in the six games to the tune of a 7.67 ERA.
According to ESPN Stats & Information, it is the third time in franchise history the Tigers have begun the season with at least six straight losses against Cleveland, and it’s the first time they’ve suffered such a skein since 1996, when Detroit was swept in the season series and …
