Petricka placed on DL; Kahnle recalled

CHICAGO — White Sox right-hander Jake Petricka went on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a right hip impingement. The move is retroactive to Monday, the day after he last pitched.
Manager Robin Ventura said Petricka had likely been dealing with the injury for a while, but it flared up Wednesday during a side throwing session and was enough for the club to put him on the DL.
“It was more pronounced [Wednesday] than at any point that he’s brought it up,” Ventura said. “Definitely at the point where we need to take care of this.”
Petricka had been a productive part of a Chicago bullpen that entered Thursday leading the Majors with a 1.75 ERA, but he did struggle in his April 28 outing against the Orioles, when he gave up four runs (three earned) in one inning during a 10-2 loss.
