Heyward looking to return to lineup on Friday

CHICAGO — Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward, who has missed the last four games because of a sore right wrist, did everything on Thursday as if he was starting in hopes that he can return to the lineup on Friday.
“If it’s all good, he could start [Friday],” manager Joe Maddon said before Thursday’s series opener against the Nationals at Wrigley Field.
Heyward hurt his wrist during the Cubs’ series on April 7-10 in Arizona while taking some swings in the batting cage.
“I was doing some work off the tee and doing a drill with a donut on the bat, swinging, trying to stay through the middle, and I put more emphasis on [his wrist] and strained it from that,” Heyward …
