Sundowns put title celebrations on hold for Medeama test

South Africa league champions-elect Mamelodi Sundowns are in high spirits ahead of Saturday’s 2nd 1/8th round first leg clash against Ghanaian campaigners, Medeama in Pretoria.
The ‘Brazilians’ wrapped up the league crown on Wednesday, 4 May 2016 after a 3-0 win over neighbours, University of Pretoria to go eight points clear with two matches remaining.
Sundowns’ campaign in the premier continental club was cut short at the 1/8th round by DR Congo side, AS Vita who edged them via away goals after a 2-2 tie.
Despite a place in next year’s CAF Champions League already secured for next season, Head Coach Pitso Mosimane believes the CAF Confederation Cup carries the same amount of pedigree and doing well in the competition will give his squad valuable experience against the some of the best teams in Africa.
