Stanton complements homer with perfect throw

MIAMI — As if the awe-inspiring home run to center didn’t get your attention, Giancarlo Stanton also made an impression with his momentum-changing throw on Wednesday night in the Marlins’ 4-3 win over the D-backs at Marlins Park.
Stanton was a dual threat in Miami’s ninth win in 10 games, blasting a two-run homer while also turning in the defensive play of the night.
“Everybody wants to talk about the home runs, because it’s kind of fun to see balls go that far,” manager Don Mattingly said. “But from a team standpoint, a manager standpoint, you like the fact he plays both sides.”
Stanton’s two-run homer capped a three-run third inning, and it ended up being the decisive hit of the night, giving Miami a four-run advantage.
