CC stymies O’s as Yanks get back on track

BALTIMORE — A vintage outing from veteran CC Sabathia and a three-RBI night from Brian McCann helped the Yankees snap a six-game losing streak with Wednesday’s series-evening 7-0 win over the Orioles.
Sabathia went a season-high seven innings, holding Baltimore to six hits and striking out six as the Yankees beat the O’s for the first time in their last seven matchups. McCann went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs driven in, propelling a struggling Yankees offense that had seen Alex Rodriguez placed on the disabled list prior to the game.
Orioles starter Tyler Wilson, inserted into the rotation with Yovani Gallardo’s injury, went six innings and held New York to three runs (two earned), all scored in his final inning. The unearned run scored as a result of Wilson’s own throwing error in the sixth.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED CC rolls the clock back: Sabathia has struggled to command his offspeed stuff at times this year, but he had the Orioles off-balance all night with his mix of cutters, two-seam fastballs and changeups, ringing up a season-high six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. It was Sabathia’s first scoreless outing of seven or more innings since April 7, 2013, at Detroit.
