After dealing Gimenez, Rangers option Nicholas

TORONTO — The Rangers continued their roster shuffle prior to Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays to make room for newly acquired catcher Bobby Wilson.
Wilson, who was acquired from Detroit for left-hander Chad Bell on Tuesday, was placed on the 25-man roster in time to start against Toronto.
The Rangers optioned Brett Nicholas to Triple-A Round Rock to make room for Wilson on the active roster. Earlier in the day, the Rangers traded catcher Chris Gimenez to the Indians for cash considerations.
Wilson played in five games for Detroit this season and was 2-for-13 with two RBIs. The 33-year-old has familiarity with the Rangers’ pitching staff, having played 31 games with Texas in 2015 and spending a majority of Spring Training with the team before being dealt to the Tigers on March 29.
“Of all the places where I’ve been, this is one of the places where I’ve felt most comfortable,” Wilson said. “Already familiar with the pitching staff and knowing the guys, it makes the transition easier.”
